Learn Karate Terms

free

Free and without an account — if you like, you can support the project voluntarily.

In the dojo people count and give commands in Japanese, and most learn the terms in passing — which means with gaps. This card box closes them: counting, commands, etiquette, target areas, heights, stances, directions, punches, blocks, kicks, forms of training, grades, principles.

The core holds in every dojo. Choosing your style under More → Style adds that style's kata names and technical terms to the deck. Without a style the kata are missing — on purpose, because they differ too much between styles.

On top of that comes everyday Japanese for travel and courtesy: greetings, politeness, people, food, getting around, time, verbs, qualities and 30 set phrases. Learning Japanese terms in the dojo will also get you by in Japan.
